Pretty Petal Studio - Halloween Costumes

My cute Finn -  iPhone pic on Instagram

Do you dress up for Halloween?

As a mom of two young boys, I still dress up, but it's usually cold here on Halloween so my costume comes off after the "have-to-have" photos are taken.

My husband always has the right idea.  He just wears some sort of head piece or wig, which usually cracks me up.  We bought him a Pirate's of the Carribean style wig last night with the long hair, do-rag, and even braids with beads.

When he put it on I couldn't stop laughing.  Major belly laughs, which I haven't had in a long time.  He looked more like a disheveled Rastafarian guy than a sexy "Johnny Depp" lookalike.

But I digress (I'm sure he's going to love that I said all that)...so today I found this really pretty mask made of feathers.  It's what I'm going to wear on Halloween night...with my coat, scarf, gloves, boots, etc!

What are you going to be this Halloween?  I'll tell you one of my favorite costumes.  One year my husband was a Leprechaun and I was his gold!  It was awesome!

Pretty Petal Studio - Fine Art Print Giveaway

****************** Facebook Print Giveaway ******************

Happy Sunday! Today is a beautiful day but way too hot for fall...90 degrees in MD. So, no pumpkin patch visit or crockpot going. I want the cooler, crisp air for that!

My husband just spent nearly two hours mowing up the leaves (we have lots of trees) only to look outside and see that it's completely blanketed again. It's windy today! Poor guy.

So, with a laid-back Sunday going on here, I thought I'd announce a Print Giveaway!

Enter for your chance to win any print in my shop (8x12 or smaller size). Just leave a comment on my Facebook Page post about the Giveaway and let me know what is your favorite part of the autumn season.  (Be sure to "like" my page to see future giveaways or specials!)

I have too many to list, but I definitely love the sound of walking on crunchy leaves.

The winner will be drawn at random on Friday, October 11th. Good luck!

Flashback Friday - Arianna - Senior Session

As promised Friday's are going to be my "Flashbacks" of the past year.  I decided I would go most recent and back up from there.  If that makes sense!

This session is of the stunning Arianna.  She wanted to do a lake/beach session so we met up at Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro, MD.  I love beach sessions, especially during "Indian Summer" when the light is golden and warm.

We started out the session in their amazing red vintage convertible.  (I think I could have did an entire session just driving around in the car with her hair flying in the breeze!)  And then we went into the woods, to a pier, through a meadow, down to the beach and in the lake!  Her Mom was amazing.  She brought so many cool vintage props that we used (the bike, desk, suitcase...etc.)  A woman after my own heart!

Congratulations Arianna on your senior year.  You're a beautiful girl and I wish you much success!

Pretty Petal Studio and Whichgoose - Ophelia-like

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I wanted to do a separate little post on our model Kate in the water.  I love how ethereal she looks and the gentle movement of the water.  While I know most brides won't be wearing a stunning Whichgoose floral crown in the water (hmmm...though maybe on their honeymoon!?), you can see how beautiful this piece would make you feel.  Goddess-like; exuding romance.  You can purchase this floral crown at Whichgoose's Etsy Shop.

Pretty Petal Studio and Whichgoose - The Fall 2013 Session

Greetings everyone!  Well, it's been a long, long time since I've updated my blog so I'm not surprised if my audience is currently a crew of crickets.  I don't have any excuses, so I thought I'd try to jump back into things by blogging my latest session, Whichgoose Fall 2013.  (Funny how my last blog post was Whichgoose, um, Spring 2013!  Bad, bad, bad blogger!)

I've had a year filled with beautiful weddings, family and senior sessions, as well as some personal projects/vacations and exciting news...all that I promise to blog.  I'm going to feature a "Flashback Friday" where I will only blog about this past year and showcase some of the wonderful happenings I was lucky enough to photograph.

Enough about that.  What about this amazing session with gorgeous Whichgoose garland crowns, stunning models, a mysterious/storybook-like location and whimsical floral bouquets?!

Emily, of Whichgoose, brought an amazing array of items, as usual.  All of her lovelies can be purchased in her Etsy shop.  And the pretty floral bouquets were created by the talents of Candlelight Floral Designs, located in Middletown, MD.

At the end of the session, our Ophelia-esque model Kate was amazing and agreed to go in the water.  The sun was setting and light was streaming through the trees and draping the water with Monet-like brush strokes.  It was gorgeous!  I shared a few images here, but I plan on doing a separate post of just those images.  Stay tuned!
